Maybe you’ve seen outdoor rugs that just didn’t click with your style or seemed kinda… flimsy. Well, let me introduce you to Providence, our first-ever Chris Loves Julia x Loloi indoor/outdoor rug! Ever since we came out with our first collection with Loloi, people have been asking us for an outdoor rug. I think it’s safe to say it was worth the wait!
Our outdoor rugs with Loloi are power-loomed with 100% polypropylene with a latex backing. That makes them more durable and non-slip than other rugs. The best part is that they add a pop of personality to any space in your home.

Providence Charcoal/Dove Outdoor Rug
When people hear “indoor/outdoor” rug, they often lean toward outdoor only. But let me give you some more ways that I have and would use outdoor rugs I love throughout my home!
Entryway
This is a fun trick—if you have a smaller entry mat, layer a slightly larger outdoor rug underneath to make the entry and door feel more grand. These Loloi rugs are great because they’re pretty thin, so you can have your coir mat overtop and it won’t be too thick. Because they’re designed to hold up to the elements, outdoor rugs help wipe those shoes dry!
Hallway
Hallways get a lot of foot traffic and regular rugs can wear down more easily. I really notice the edges of hallway rugs getting worn faster—either due to vacuuming or just walking over it. An outdoor rug can be perfect for one of these high-trafficked areas!. Just add a little rug tape to the edges for that extra security that it won’t move, since there’s no furniture on it to hold it down.
Deck

If you have a deck—covered or uncovered—an outdoor rug really extends your living space, making this room feel seamless to the interior. Outdoor rugs act as visual anchors, helping to define distinct areas on your deck, such as a dining space, a lounging area, or a conversation nook. This creates a more organized and inviting atmosphere. Plus bare decking can be hot, cold, or splintery! Definitely worth softening that up.
Mudroom
Indoor/outdoor rugs were practically made for mudrooms. They’re just so easy to clean in a space that’s designed to capture life’s messes on the way in. Imagine: muddy boots, wet paws, spilled groceries – a quick shake or hose down and your rug is good as new! Outdoor rugs also warm up a space that can sometimes feel a little cold, due to the tile, vinyl, or hardwood floors underneath.
Dining Room
It makes perfect sense to choose a durable rug for a dining room! You want something easy to clean, especially if you have kids running around—or, let’s be honest, just for peace of mind. These outdoor-friendly rugs? They’re ideal for indoor scenarios with food around. I love how practical and beautiful they are, plus they can reduce noise of chairs scraping the floor.

How to Care for an Outdoor Rug
We adore a beautiful rug, and we want yours to stay that way! Here’s our simple, no-fuss guide to keeping rugs clean and happy:
- Spills? Act Fast! Think of it like this: the sooner you tackle a spill, the better. Grab a clean sponge or cloth and gently blot (don’t rub!). Then, if you can, give it a quick rinse with water from your garden hose.
- Air It Out! Make sure your rug gets some fresh air and dries completely. Lifting it off the ground helps with this. Air circulation is key!
- Rug Pad Power! We’re big believers in rug pads. They’re like a cozy foundation for your rug. They prevent slipping, add a little extra cushion (who doesn’t love that?), and help your rug last longer. It’s a win-win!
- Vacuuming: The Gentle Approach. When it’s time to vacuum, remember: gentle is key!
- Use a vacuum without a beater bar, or set it to the highest pile setting.
- If your vacuum has power settings, go low and slow.
- Vacuum in long, smooth strokes, going the full length of the rug. Then, turn and repeat. No frantic back-and-forth needed!
