Honda’s subcompact HR-V may lack much in the way of driving enthusiasm, but it is mighty safe. The 2023 HR-V scores a Good rating in every crash test, as well as a Superior rating for crash avoidance and mitigation, netting it a Top SafetyPick+ award from IIHS. The HR-V’s headlights, however, receive a mere Acceptable rating. All HR-Vs come standard with Honda’s suite of active safety tech, which includes the likes of automatic emergency braking systems, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
